Youth Leadership is a national 4-H project. It features curriculum that will guide you through the project. For a copy contact your County 4-H Office or order online at National 4-H Service Supply. For additional curriculum possibilities, explore the National Directory of 4-H Materials and do a key word search for Youth Leadership.
Youth Leadership 1
What you can do in this project: assess your leadership skills; practice effective communication skills; set goals and resolve conflict; and plan a group event.
Grades: 3-5

What you can do in this project: explore how leaders are different; develop a multi-media presentation; set and achieve team goals; and practice teamwork.

Citizenship Washington Focus
CWF is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth, ages
15-19, from across the country. Every summer thousands of young
people stay at the National 4-H Conference Center, near Washington,
D.C., to participate in this week-long program. Contact your county
Extension office for more information.
Co-op Y.E.S. (Youth Education
Summit)
For youth in grades 10-12 to learn the purpose, operation and
scope of cooperative business and economy in a fun and educational
environment. Participants also explore career possibilities and
meet youth leaders from across Wisconsin and Minnesota.
National 4-H Conference
National 4-H Conference in Washington D.C. each spring is a
working conference in which youth and adults help develop recommendations
to help guide 4-H Youth Development Programs nationally and in their
communities. It brings together youth, volunteer leaders, state,
and county Extension staff from across the U.S. and Canada. Contact
your county 4-H office for more information and visit the national
site.
National 4-H Congress
Delegates participate in self development seminars, tours, and
a service project, while exchanging ideas with youth from across
the country.
Wisconsin 4-H and Youth
Conference
If you’re in grades 8-10, check out the next Wisconsin
4-H and Youth Conference, scheduled each June at the UW-Madison
campus. The conference offers educational seminars in most areas
of 4-H. Contact your county Extension office for details. Guiding
the conference are members of the State
4-H Youth Leader Council.
Youth Leadership Project Training
Many counties hold local training for members and leaders in
their favorite project areas, including youth leadership. Watch
your county 4-H Family newsletter or contact your county Extension
office for details.

County Fair
The county fair . . . what a great time it is! Every summer, families
flock to county fairs to see the latest 4-H project exhibits. Exhibiting
is a fun and educational way for youth to showcase their project
work to judges and to the public.
Judging materials are supported by Bill Shaw in memory of his wife, Shirley.
