Shooting Sports
Welcome to the Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Web pages. The 4-H Shooting Sports program is only successful when adults volunteer to work with youth in this project and when youth are given the opportunity to develop safe shooting skills and develop a better understanding of wildlife ecology. To serve as a 4-H Shooting Sports leader, individuals must complete the Youth Protection process, must be at least 18 years old, and must have successfully completed at least one state-level 4-H Leader Training SHOOTING SPORTS CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP in the discipline in which they are providing supervision.
If an adult leader is not certified, he/she cannot provide hands-on or safety instruction without a certified leader being present. A leader may obtain certification in an additional discipline (archery, pistol [.177 pellet and .22], coordinator, hunting/wildlife ecology, muzzle loading, rifle [.177 pellet,. 177 BB, and .22], and shotgun) by completing a certification workshop provided by 4-H certified state training team members. Certified Workshops are not designed to teach volunteers how to use archery equipment or shoot a firearm, but are designed to teach adults how to conduct safe, supervised, shooting experiences for 4-H members enrolled in the project. Therefore interested adults who have experience in safely handling archery equipment and/or firearms are encouraged to enroll in these certification workshops.

Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development
Policies (7 pages, 32 KB) Wisconsin 4-H Program Safety Regulations, which include Wisconsin 4-H Shooting
Sports Policies. Youth may participate in an organized 4-H Shooting Sports activity
only if a certified 4-H Shooting Sports leader is present and providing
supervision. The 4-H certified leader must have certification in
the shooting discipline in which the youth is participating. Refer
to the Program Safety section for specific requirements for this
project.
Wisconsin District Firearms Policy (12.0 KB)
This agreement has been drafted to guide our use and disposition of Shooting Sport Equipment obtained thanks to the generosity of Friends of the NRA in Wisconsin. A grant received in 1995 has allowed us to purchase firearms, archery equipment, and other materials to support the 4-H Shooting Sports Project in Wisconsin. Firearms and non-expendable supplies remain property of University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development.

This form is to be completed annually to show possession of County 4-H Equipment or for transfer of such equipment from a certified 4-H Shooting Sports leader to another certified 4-H Shooting Sports leader.

This form is to be completed annually to show possession of WI State 4-H Equipment or for transfer of such equipment from a certified state trainer to another certified state trainer.
