The Agriculture Extension Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. Agriculture Extension Educator is an employee of the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension within the Agriculture Institute of the Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources. The Agriculture Extension Educator is also a primary member of one of the centers within the Agriculture Institute, either the Center for Animal Agriculture or Center for Farm Management. If appropriate and desired, Extension Educators can affiliate with other Cooperative Extension centers in order to best address the programmatic focus of the position. 

This Agriculture Extension Educator position will primarily serve Calumet County.  Through this position, this individual will carry out programming that directly addresses the local needs of the community and is approved by the Area Extension Director for their area and Center Director.  In addition to the focus on Animal Agriculture and Farm Management, the Agriculture Extension Educator’s programs will respond to local needs, and will provide a connection to the broader University of Wisconsin research, education, and outreach resources.

Richland County FoodWIse Nutrition Educator

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to function as a peer educator to provide education related to basic nutrition, regular low impact physical activity, food safety, and food budgeting for individuals and families living on limited economic resources. The Richland and Vernon County Nutrition Education Program is a major effort within the Cooperative Extension Family Living Programs. The aim of Family Living Programs is to enhance the quality of family and community decisions that affect the family and to increase the abilities of families to adapt to and effect change. Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve Offices, 14 Marina Dr., Superior, Wisconsin 54880

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve (Lake Superior Reserve) is one in a national network of 29 sites around the United States and its territories that comprise the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.  The Lake Superior Reserve was designated through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and represents a partnership between UW-Extension, NOAA, UW-Superior and other local, state, and regional entities. The Reserve is the only NERR located in Wisconsin, the second in the Great Lakes and the only one within the Lake Superior Biogeographical Region. The Iead state institution for the Reserve is UW-Extension and the Reserve facilities are located on the UW-Superior campus on Barker’s Island in Superior, WI. The Lake Superior Reserve’s mission is to work in partnership to improve the understanding of Lake Superior’s coasts and estuaries  and to address issues affecting them through an integration of research, education, outreach and stewardship. A place-based program, the Reserve has a special focus on the watershed of the St Louis River and estuary. To find out more, visit

Nationally, Reserves conduct research, education, outreach and stewardship activities that improve the understanding of coastal systems and practice of coastal management. Through the Coastal Training Program (CTP), the Lake Superior Reserve addresses critical coastal resource management issues by providing training and technical assistance to decision makers, such as elected and appointed government officials, land use planners, natural resource managers and community groups, private and public sector entities and others whose professional choices impact coastal resources and communities.  Additional information about the CTP can be found at the following website:
