With its new digital signal, Wisconsin Public Television can turn TVs and home computers into vast libraries of media-rich information. Using the capabilities of its new broadcast signal, programs can be enhanced with additional information such as customized educational materials to teachers, students and life-long learners. This data -- video, audio, graphics and text -- can be embedded into the broadcast signal to be downloaded, stored and viewed later. The Distance Education Clearinghouse is a comprehensive and widely recognized web site bringing together distance education information from Wisconsin, national, and international sources. New information and resources are being added to the Distance Education Clearinghouse on a continual basis. The Clearinghouse has been managed and maintained by Instructional Communications Systems since 1995.

Distance Learning.Wisconsin is a web-based gateway to information about the courses and programs offered via distance learning by the University of Wisconsin System institutions. The site is intended to be a starting point when searching for courses and degree program information. Each course listed has a contact for further information and a link to admission/registration procedures.

Interactive Dialogue with Educators from Across the State - ide@s provides Wisconsin educators access to high-quality, highly usable, teacher-reviewed web-based resources for curricula, content, lesson plans, professional development and other selected resources. These resources help Wisconsin educators use technology to meet the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards and create the foundation for a statewide knowledge management system.

Portalwisconsin.org is a nonprofit web site created by the Cultural Coalition of Wisconsin to promote the state's culture, arts, humanities and history. It includes a statewide events calendar, feature stories, news, virtual tours, streaming video and audio, a gallery of Wisconsin artists, course listings and much more. Visitors can navigate the content through a variety of means, including searches by keyword, subject area and date. Content is updated almost daily. The Cultural Coalition of Wisconsin is made up of seven members:

Portalwisconsin.org offers a model that can be replicated by other public broadcasting stations interested in creating cultural portal sites.

QEI

Quality Educator Interactive
Quality Educator Interactive (QEI) is a statewide collaborative project providing Wisconsin educators an easy-to-use, web-based, PI34 Professional Development Plan management system and Career Portfolio. It's a place where Wisconsin PK-12 educators can build professional development plans in a statewide collaborative environment. Included on the web site are databases of resources needed for PI 34 requirements.

The Wisconsin Stories Project

The Wisconsin Stories Project
Wisconsin Stories is a 20-part series highlighting intriguing tales about the state, its people and its past. Wisconsin Stories is a partnership between the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) and Wisconsin Public Television (WPT). It grew out of the well-received, award-winning work the WHS and WPT did to mark the state's Sesquicentennial in 1998. WHS and WPT are collaborating on Wisconsin Stories and The Wisconsin Collection, which will use TV, video and digital technology to bring history programming to Wisconsin audiences for years to come.
