Both the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act were significantly changed in 2008. New and revised regulations for FMLA went into effect January 16, 2009, including new coverage for some military members as well as changes in notice requirements for both employers and employees, new forms, medical certification requirements and much more. The ADA Amendments Act became effective January 1, 2009 and mandates several significant changes in how the law is applied including that the term "disability" be interpreted broadly so as to be more inclusive.
Who Should Attend: This course is suitable for those new to FMLA and for those looking for a refresher and update on the law. Instructors will include School for Workers faculty and attorneys who represent employees in these types of worker leave cases.

Lodging Reservations
Participants are responsible for arranging their own lodging. A block of guest rooms has been reserved at the Lowell Center, one block from the Pyle Center.. Rates at the Lowell Center are $70/single and $80/double (2008 room rates!) if you reserve a room by September 12. After September 11, rates are $89/single and $99/double.
The Lowell Center is a nonsmoking facility. If you reserve a room at the Lowell Center, parking and breakfast are included. For dinner, you can explore the many restaurants on nearby State St.
The lodging room block will be released one month before the class start date.
