The School for Workers is excited to introduce online steward training! For situations where traditional training is not feasible (schedule conflicts, shift work, etc.), there is now a way to get the basic information needed by new stewards.

Topics covered in the class include:
- Basic responsibilities of the steward
- Rights of the steward
- Explaining what the union does and why it matters
- How to introduce new members to your union
- Understanding your contract and processing grievances
- Rallying the members around bargaining and other issues
- Providing good faith representation for everyone
It is estimated that the course can be completed in 8-10 hours.
Upon completion of the course, you will be asked to complete a brief online survey about your experience. Once finished, you will be issued your certificate of completion and awarded 1 continuing education unit (CEU) from the University of Wisconsin-Extension.

A registration confirmation will be sent when your registration form and payment are received.
Students have six months to complete the course from the date of the confirmation email that provided the login information.

Note: The Steward Forum feature is not available.
Cancellation policy: Due to the nature of this program, registration fees are non-refundable once you have started the course. You may not defer or transfer your fees to anyone else.
Minimum computer system requirements:
This online course is not computer resource intensive and will run on virtually any computer, if the following criteria are met:
56k modem or faster connection to the Internet
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or later (or equivalent, such as Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari)
Macromedia Flash plug-in installed
Since the course loads in its own dedicated browser window, you must disable popup blockers to take the course.
