There are numerous research studies that show the importance of
supportive communities in the positive development of young people.
The biennial report of youth risk behavior shows that students who
have supportive families and communities are better at avoiding activities
that can trheaten their education and their future.

Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development recognizes the role community members,
youth, families, partents, schools, community organizations, elected
officials, and all county residents play in creating a positive enfironment
for young people. This site is designed to help Extension educators,
communities, schools and families access resources and information
to support young people in their community and county.
Strengthening Positive Youth Development Environments: Research-Based Frameworks for Extension Educators - This resource provides practical research, planning, assessment and practice tools on positive youth development for Extension educators and others working in community settings. The Framework includes presentations, resource guides, self-assessment tools, re-printable fact sheets for newsletters and training, and other tools.
