Area Animal Science Days - Series of four day-long events held around the state in June where youth in the beef, dairy, horse, sheep and swine projects increase their decision making skills and knowledge of animals through judging and grading experiences. Events include evaluation of dairy cattle, horses and meat animals; dairy showmanship contests; hippology (the study of horses); and oral reasons workshops. In addition, each site offers a variety of workshops for small animal projects, which may include rabbits, poultry, dogs, cats or llamas.

2008 Horse Project Event calendar

Stable Adventures - An opportunity for Horse Project members to share their knowledge with the State Fair Public.

State 4-H Gymkhana - Horse speed and game show held annually the first weekend after Labor Day.

State 4-H Horse Bowl and Hippology - Usually held in early May at UW-Marathon County Campus. Youth answer questions about horses and the horse industry in teams of 3 or 4 members. Junior and Senior Division. Hippology Contest also takes place. - 3 grade Divisions. Youth answer questions based on learning stations and seniors also complete a written exam.

State 4-H Hunt and Dressage Show - Jumping and Dressage show usually held the end of June.

Wisconsin 4-H Horse Expo - Held annually in September at the State Fair Grounds in West Allis. Over 700 horses and 900 youth participate.

Wisconsin 4-H Horse Leaders Conference - Youth (7th grade and up) and adult Horse project leaders are invited to attend this annual event.
