Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF)CWF

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth, ages 15-19, from across the country. Every summer thousands of young people stay at the National 4-H Conference Center, near Washington, D.C., to participate in this week-long program.

Week #4 - June 19-27, 2010
Week #6 - July 3-11, 2010
Week #7 - July 10-18, 2010

2010 Chaperone face-to-face training: Sat. April 24, 2010 10:30a-4:30p Location: Stevens Point, WI (tentative)

Approximately 200 Wisconsin 4 H Youth are selected to attend this leadership program held at the National 4-H Center. Participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events.

Qualifications:

  • 10th-12th grade at time of selection. Minimum age 15 during trip; be selected at the county level;
  • carry county approval through time of award trip.

Costs:

  • The total fee for the 2010 CWF trip is approximately $1,050. (fee depedent on bus/fuel costs).
  • Some counties offer partial local sponsorships.
Applications:
  • Contact your County 4-H Youth Development Agent for application procedure and forms.
  • Youth delegates are selected by their counties in the late fall or early winter.

2010 CWF Orientation Teleconference Information

  • Mon. May 3, 2010 - Week #4
  • Tues. May 4, 2010 - Week #6
  • Thurs. May 6, 2010 - Week #7

All three teleconferences will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. More information will be available in the 2010 CWF Handbook on-line in the spring.  Please note that we will do our best to honor the delegate's request for a certain week but some adjustments may need to be made due to space limitations. Letters are sent to delegates (copy to agents) in early March confirming their assigned week and containing additional information.
