2010 Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board of Directors New Members
The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation is proud to announce eight newly elected and appointed Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board members. John Brunnquell, Dave Daniels, Robert Hanson, and Jill Makovec were each elected to a three-year term that began in January 2010 and ends December 2012. Ivan Morrow was appointed as the Retired 4-H Agent representative and Sharon Seibel was appointed as the State 4-H Adult Leader Council representative. Both will serve a three-year term that began in January 2010 and ends December 2012. Ann O’Leary is the State 4-H Youth Leader Council President and Sarah Henderson is the State 4-H Youth Leader Council Representative. Both are serving one-year appointments ending June 2010.
JOHN BRUNNQUELL
John, a third generation farmer, is the president of Egg Innovations which he started in 1998. “Egg Innovations is a leading producer of cage-free and organic eggs, packaging more than 15 million eggs each month from more than 30 family farms.” He is currently the co-chair of the Northeast Indiana economic cluster on food industry development and has been nominated for the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award for the UW Alumni Club of Milwaukee. As a young person, he was a 4-H member in Wisconsin and had served on the State 4-H Youth Leader Council. He has continued his involvement as an adult and has volunteered with 4-H for “too many years to count.” John feels that good things are happening in 4-H and wants to take what is there and move it to a higher level.
DAVE DANIELS
Dave is a self-employed dairy farmer, represents Southeast WI counties on the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation and serves on the Kenosha County Farm Bureau. He was a 4-H member as a young person and helped with Kenosha County 4-H when his two children were involved. Dave says he has been “very impacted by the 4-H program” and hopes to continue supporting those experiences for youth in Wisconsin. Dave and his wife Kim have been married for more than 25 years and have two grown children. He enjoys Wisconsin Badger Football and golfing.
ROBERT HANSON
Robert will be starting his first term on the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board of Directors in January 2010. He was a 4-H member in Minnesota as a youth and a 4-H volunteer in Wisconsin as an adult. Robert, now retired, and his wife Jane were dairy farmers for thirteen years before Robert went into Ag Lending. When asked why he wanted to join the Board Robert said, “Serving on the Board would give me a time to again give back to 4-H and I enjoy working with people.” Robert has generously volunteered with the Northern Golf classic since 2008. Robert enjoys doing volunteer work, playing golf and working in his garden. He and Jane have three grown children who were all in 4-H.
JILL MAKOVEC
Jill was a member of the Green Meadows 4-H club in Grant County and grew up on a dairy farm that she helps out on as much as possible. Recently, Jill served as Alice in Dairyland and continues to work in agriculture marketing as an Account Executive at the Wisconsin Radio Network. “4-H was an important part of my life growing up and taught me several skills that I use everyday – teamwork, dedication and confidence.” As a Board member, Jill hopes to heighten the public’s awareness of 4-H and the Foundation by showcasing the work we do and the youth we influence. Jill is an avid sports fan and is a UW Badger Football season ticket holder.
IVAN MORROW
Ivan was 4-H agent in Adams County for 32 years until his retirement in 1986. He was the first retired 4-H agent in Wisconsin to be honored by gifts totaling over $1,000 to the Retired 4-H Agents Endowment Fund which was established in 1999. Since his retirement, Ivan has stayed active with the Adams County Fair and has served on the Board of Adams County Memorial Hospital. In addition to his interest in computers and fishing, he is active with the Central Wisconsin Beef Producers, the Knights of Columbus and the Adams County Development Corporation. He and his wife Joyce have six children and five grandchildren.
SHARON SEIBEL
Sharon is the State 4-H Adult Leader Council representative to the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board of Directors.
WILLIE D. LARKIN was elected to his second term as a Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board member. He was an assistant professor in the College of Education at Auburn University from 1984 before coming to Wisconsin. In 1988, he received the prestigious Kellogg National Fellowship award, which enabled him to travel throughout the United States, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Canada and Germany to study human resource management. He earned his undergraduate and master’s of education degrees from Tuskegee University in Alabama. His doctorate in agricultural education–extension, with a specialization in 4-H and youth development, is from Ohio State University, where he served on the Ohio 4-H Foundation Board.
2010 officers are: Terri Dallas, President; Bill Geary, Vice President; Ashley Viste, Secretary; and Greg Schopen, Treasurer.
