Volunteer Management - Selection

The process of studying the backgrounds of prospective volunteers identified and movitvating them to fill selected positions. This includes screening potential volunteers, reference checks, inteviews, and matching volunteer to needed roles.

Staff Development Tools:

  • Minnesota 4-H Volunteer Onboarding Materials The role-matching tool is intended to assist 4-H staff in placing a volunteer in a role that best utilizes his or her skills and talents. A way to promote this is through a role-matching conversation, where staff members are able to learn about the individual volunteers, their talents, the expectations they have of the volunteer experience, and support they desire and/or expect from the staff.
