Adventures with Ma & Pa
This is not Ma and Pa Kettle we're talking about here! During the pre-conference Thursday night, Wisconsin's own “Pa” Tom Kleist and “Ma” Sandy Fischer will help you trace Wisconsin's colorful history from the early pioneers and fur traders to our state's wheat and dairy farming days. Dressed in old-time costumes, this dynamic couple mixes their years of knowledge and experience with hands-on fun to make our state's history come alive!
Wisconsin Tailgate Party
Wisconsin is famous for its tailgate parties, where people enjoy pre- and post-game meals or snacks from the trunks of their cars and vans. On Friday night you'll get a taste of a good ol' fashioned Wisconsin Tailgate Party! Come dressed to represent and cheer for your favorite sports team – high school, college, pro – or any team, for that matter. It doesn't have to be sports. And bring your favorite 4-H cheer, too!
Let’s Do the Polka!
Guess who will provide background music for the Tailgate Party on Friday night – a premier Wisconsin Polka Band, of course! Carol & the Keynotes will also play polkas and other tunes after the party so you can dance the night away. Don’t know how to do the polka? No problem! The Polka Boosters will teach you how. Remember to bring your dancing shoes!
Shooting Sports & Wildlife Ecology
Learn to shoot a bow and arrow on the Forum indoor archery range. Leaders will work with you one-to-one and have you hitting the bulls-eye before you know it! If you're an experienced archer, try out our compound bows, re-curve bows, and longbows. All safety equipment, including long arm guards and gloves or tabs, is supplied. Then visit the 4-H Shooting Sports Wildlife Ecology area where you'll take home wildlife art and craft ideas, and try your hand at fun wildlife projects like these: plaster casts of animal tracks, leaf prints, stationery stamping, feather necklace, and more! This activity is open Friday and Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m.
4-H Arts & Music
Youth members of the 2007 Wisconsin 4-H Showcase Singers and Wisconsin 4-H Art Team will entertain you with games, musical performances, and visual arts while displaying the rich palette of Wisconsin's 4-H visual and performing art projects. Look for the 4-H Art Cart, which will be making its rounds during breaks and recreation periods during the 2007 Forum. The 4-H Showcase Singers will perform at the closing banquet Saturday night. Encore!
Ethnic Group Performances
Milwaukee has more than a rich German heritage! Many other nationalities now call Milwaukee home and add to the city’s diversity. After breakfast Sunday morning, be entertained and educated through the performances of local ethnic groups.
