Statewide Training for 4-H Adult and Youth Photo Leaders and County Fair Photo Judges
Upham Woods Environmental Education Center, Wisconsin Dells
September 23 - 25, 2011
Say cheese!
If you're a youth or adult 4-H photo leader, or you're a new or aspiring county fair photography judge . . . say cheese! And sign up now for “Foto Follies,” statewide training workshop to be held Friday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at Upham Woods Environmental Education Center, Wisconsin Dells.
The conference begins with registration at 6 p.m. on Friday and ends at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. It will feature workshop sessions for both beginning and advanced levels, as well as sessions for those who want to be registered as county fair photography judges.
The conference costs $80 per person if you stay in the lodge, and $72 if you stay in a cabin. This fee will cover five workshop sessions; keynote talk; portfolio review (optional); photo walks and evening activities; two breakfasts, lunch and dinner; two nights lodging in a dorm or cabin; and all program materials. All youth leaders must be in high school and accompanied by an adult.
For adult and youth 4-H photo volunteers, the conference will focus on ideas and information on how to be an effective leader, with an emphasis on resources and activities that you can use to teach photography to young people. You’ll also have many opportunities to practice and improve your own photo-taking skills.
Workshop choices will include photo composition and technique; basic portraiture and lighting; studio lighting and portraiture; taking photos of people and animals; taking still life photos; taking photos of buildings; outdoor photography; and sessions related to digital photography, manipulation and presentation.
For new and aspiring judges, sessions will cover the basics of Danish and conference judging photos at Wisconsin county fairs. You can use this opportunity to polish your judging skills or to become registered as a Dept. 20 county fair judge.
Conference registration deadline is August 19, but sign up early because space is limited. For more information and registration materials, click on the 2011 Foto Follies Agenda, Program Highlights and Registration Form below. After you register, you will receive directions to the camp and additional conference information.
