International Programs
Description
International Programs is a statewide 4-H project. It features
curriculum that will guide you through the project. For a copy contact
your County 4-H Office or order online at: Extension
Publications.
International 1
In this project for grades 3-12, explore the world around you. Use maps to identify places. Investigate the importance of nature’s balance and the importance of our water supply. Track weather in various parts of the world. Conduct a global hunger buffet to experience world hunger. Make a family tree. Explore the issue of immigration and learn to appreciate the diversity in your community. Discover the meanings behind geographic names. Understand pressing global issues, such as, basic human needs, interdependence, stereotypes, economics, and food distribution. Meet important global figures. Experience the lifestyles and concerns of families and youth from around the world, as well as family histories and traditions. Sample other cultures, including their communication symbols, expressions, personal greetings, foods, houses, costumes, and art. Make your own culture kits.

Events
Wisconsin 4-H International Program Exchanges
Wisconsin 4-H challenges youth to become global citizens by offering
international homestays and hosting experiences as well as intercultural
workshops offered on a county, district and state level. Currently,
travel and host opportunities are available with Labo International
Exchange Foundation or Institute for Language Experiment, Experience, and Exchange (LEX) international exchanges in Japan, Korea
and Mexico; to Norway and Finland through Finland and Norway 4-H, and Australia through the Exchange Network; or to host high school students from Japan, Korea, or Eurasia on a school year program.
Exchanges are available from three weeks to one year, with most in
the four-week range. Adult volunteer leadership positions are available, as well.
