Milwaukee - Malcolm X
The
CYFAR project at Malcolm X Academy is an expanding community partnership.
African and African American students from the University of Wisconsin
Milwaukee are mentoring students in science. Staff from the Opportunities
Industrialization Center of Greater Milwaukee and Malcolm X administration
and teaching staff, along with UWEX CYFAR staff are working as a
team to create the community support needed for Milwaukee's youth
to achieve. Presently the program reaches 8th grade level students.
Plans are already underway to expand this effort to reaching community
youth from age 8 to 12 years and in the next period to prepare 9th
grade students to teach science to 6th grade students.
