Iowa County Youth in Governance Programs
- Two youth, recruited by Deb Ivey, served on the Mineral Point Ag Chamber Committee from its inception. These youth were instrumental in developing a new partnership with the Mineral Point FFA to increase the sale of local products as fundraisers. The youth also developed and demonstrated a growth in their leadership, teamwork and communication skills as a result of their service on this committee. The Ag Chamber committee received the 2007 Rural Development Initiative Award for this effort. Another Mineral Point committee recently included a youth representative showing that other groups have begun to recognize the importance of youth involvement.
- Four 4-H youth were elected to the governing body of the Iowa County 4-H Leaders Association for a two year term. The Leaders Council voted to increase this from two members to 4 members in an effort to increase youth involvement in decision making and leadership.
