Wisconsin Youth Voice: Youth Choice for Healthy Living
Youth Voice: Youth Choice is an exciting national program that encourages young people to develop and maintain healthy, active lifestyles. Through a $1 million grant from the Walmart Foundation, 4-H programs in 15 selected states will receive $50,000 to tackle wellness issues such as nutrition, physical fitness, and safety. Each state grant will reach more than 500 youth and their families in rural, suburban, and urban communities.
Youth Voice: Youth Choice Goals
- Promote healthy eating habits, boost physical activity, and encourage safety and wellness among America’s youth.
- Facilitate healthy living projects via existing 4-H forums such as State 4-H Ambassadors and Teen Summits.
- Identify and overcome the barriers to healthy living and empower youth to raise public awareness for wellness.
- Develop partnerships with stakeholders to create sustainable healthy living programs.
- Implement action plans at the local level and share with county commissioners, school boards, health caucuses, and state legislative offices.
Youth Voice: Youth Choice Evaluation
- Track the total number of youth and adult participants
- Record the total number of local partnerships forged in each community
