FLU VIRUS, PANDEMIC, HEALTH
Extension Responds - H1N1 Influenza A

In late March and early April 2009, cases of human infection with influenza A (H1N1) viruses were first reported in California, Texas and Mexico.

Novel influenza A (H1N1) virus continues to circulate widely in parts of Wisconsin. Although the severity of the virus appears similar to seasonal influenza, with most infected persons experiencing mild illness, the Division of Public Health (DPH) continues to take novel H1N1 influenza very seriously. Each year, seasonal influenza causes thousands of hospitalizations and hundreds of deaths in Wisconsin. This novel H1N1 strain is causing influenza at a time of year when activity normally subsides.

Extension Responds by working with our county, state and federal partners to provide resources and information about the current outbreak.
