Q. What is the role of the Academic Staff Title
Review Committee in my title prefix review process?
A. The role of this group is to review your title prefix review packet and make a
recommendation of support or nonsupport for your request. Their group recommendation
is sent to the Dean of Cooperative Extension.
Q. What is the composition of the Academic
Staff Title Review Committee?
A. The make-up of the committee varies a little, depending if you
are a Category A or Category B academic staff. Committees for both categories
have a Cooperative Extension Human Resources Office representative,
as well as a member of the Academic Staff Council. In addition, the review
committee for a Category A academic staff has another Category A academic
staff member for a total of three members. If you are in Category B,
your committee will have another Category B academic staff member and
a program area representative for a total of four members. The Dean of Cooperative
Extension appoints review committee members to two-year terms.
Q. How does the committee review my title prefix review request?
A. Committee members start by individually reviewing a hard copy
of your documentation packet. If your packet is considered to be incomplete,
it will be returned. If your packet is considered to be complete, committee
members have 10 days to individually review your materials against the
criteria established for each title category
and prefix. They each e-mail his or her recommendation for or against
granting the title prefix request, with a brief justification, to the Cooperative Extension
Human Resources Office. If all reviewers agree on supporting
or not supporting your promotion, the recommendation will go forward
to the Dean of Cooperative Extension. If all reviewers do not agree, the Dean’s representative
convenes a teleconference to further consider your request and determine the group’s recommendation.
The entire process is confidential. Committee members destroy your title prefix review
request materials when the Chancellor’s decision is communicated
to you, unless they have been told to do otherwise.
