The Distance Diagnosis web site is a collaborative effort between county agriculture agents, state specialists, and the electronic publishing unit of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension.
The site consists of three main parts: the public site, the internal site, and an administrative site.
- The Public Site
The public site is where the general public can see the most recently answered case, as well as search the archives for past answers. Answers are saved in a database, and can be searched by topic, date, submittor, or responder.
- The Internal Site
The internal site consists of two parts, both of which are protected by username/password combinations:
1. Case Submissions: UWEX Cooperative Extension County Agriculture Agents can pose questions to state specialists. County Agents enter basic information about their problem, and upload images to illustrate the issue. Once a case has been entered into the system, it is emailed directly to a group of state specialists and other county agents for a response.
2. To respond to a case, a State Specialist or County Agent enters the internal site, formulates a response, and posts it. The response will appear immediately in the public portion of the site, and an email will be sent to the County Agent who submitted the problem.
- The Administrative Site
In the administrative section of the web site, the administrator uses a username/password combination to add specialists and agents to the system, as well as to perform some general maintenance functions.
The Distance Diagnosis site is in it's second year. We have modified several features of the site in an attempt to make the site more user friendly. We are always striving to create a better web site. Please feel free to provide your suggestions for how the site could be improved.
