Drought Contact Stations in Wisconsin
From the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
On August 19th The Governor Issued Executive order 21 declaring emergency drought conditions statewide. DNR field staff have been briefed on handling emergency irrigation application requests. The permit process usually begins with the riparian landowner making a phone call to the appropriate DNR person. The attached spreadsheet lists DNR contacts, by county. The permit process involves the DNR staff person making a site visit. The application form is often completed during that site visit and signed by the landowner. There is no application fee. Permit approval depends on the irrigation not causing "unduly adverse environmental impacts" to that particular stream or area. Generally, there are some specific conditions stated on the permit, such as where, when and how much water can be diverted. Permits are valid through September 18, 2003.
