No Berries on Mountain Ash http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=13969 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=13969 Thu, 17 Sep 2009 09:15:28 CST Client purchased Mountain Ash tree 3 years ago and it produced the typical red berries the 1st year. Last year no flowers or berries. This year the white flowers were produced in the spring but now there are not clusters of red berries. Is there a reason why it may not have produced berries and if there ever will be berries again? Hickory Tree Decline http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=13922 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=13922 Thu, 03 Sep 2009 08:45:40 CST Five hickory trees (one mature and four young trees) have been showing signs of decline for several years. Galls are present and leaves have been dropping all summer. Any ideas on the cause or what needs to be done to save the trees? Are there herbicide options that won't damage the parent tree? Thank you Maple Tree Problems http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=13855 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=13855 Tue, 18 Aug 2009 10:45:37 CST 15 yr old maple tree (trunk 10" diameter) losing bark on trunk and limbs; seems to start in the crotches. 1/2 of tree did not leaf out this spring and started on the north side of the tree sometime last year and has steadily worsened. Looks like bark has been chewed away in sections. Suggested animal damage but client disagrees. Same thing is happening in another maple tree 10 feet away. Fir trees and ash tree unaffected. Water the lawn but not trees specifically and lawn care company treats lawn for weeds and applies fertilizer. Found what looks to be an immature western seed conifer bug on sample but found nothing else when peeled away bark. Note: the photos are taken from already dead branches.
