Northern Corn Rootworm Extended Diapause Monitoring http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=7230 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=7230 Fri, 29 Jun 2007 12:00:00 CST Extended diapause of Northern Corn Rootworm is suspected in Western Wisconsin, (St. Croix and Pierce Counties). Adult rootworm beetle traps have been placed in field corn with a long history of corn/soybean rotations. No CRW insecticide or CRW hybrid has been used. Field to be monitored from the present V11 stage during July. Root rating comparisons will be evaluated Armyworm damage to corn following Winter rye http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=4450 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=4450 Mon, 05 Jun 2006 12:00:00 CST Grower planted winter rye last fall after corn silage harvest. Rye was grazed off this spring. The emerging corn has at least three armyworm per plant and quickly defoliating the corn. The field was split in half with a removable fence last year. The other half of the field wasn't planted to winter rye and the corn is healthy with only some evidence of armyworm presence. The field is clearfield corn and was going to be sprayed with lighning tomorrow. He will likely add Lorsban to the tankmix but is interested in knowing the time restrictions for feeding because he plans to chop as silage again. Corn Rootworm Damage http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=3950 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=3950 Wed, 21 Jul 2004 12:00:00 CST 3rd year corn on corn. Rootworm larvae were found. Brace roots look "clubbed" and many were not reaching soil in lodged areas of field following windy thunderstorm. Basis Gold used as herbicide and applied timely. Planting depth about 2 inches. Any ideas of what is likely cause of "clubbed" brace roots? Multiple Alfalfa Insect Thresholds http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=3350 http://www.uwex.edu/ces/ag/plantdoc/viewCase.cfm?cid=3350 Thu, 19 Jun 2003 12:00:00 CST Regrowth on established alfalfa is infested with multiple insects. While sweeping these fields (avg. 7-8" regrowth that were slighltly winter-injured stands), the following scouting results were: 50 percent tip feeding of alfalfa weevil larvae, .7 larvae at the 2-3 instar stage were present per sweep and .8 potato leafhopper nymphs were present. And, these fields are infested with hundreds of what I believe are cow pea aphids (see photo's). What treatment thresholds are in force? and What insecticides are recommended for this mix of alfalfa pests?
