Plant is growing on top of soil in one of two raised vegetable garden beds 4"x20' and has been an ongoing issue for 3 years. Extremely shallow rooted. Live in heavily wooded area and gardens receive only morning sun. Rotates vegetables on a yearly basis. Uses no lime, pesticides or herbicides but uses Miracle Gro and fertilizes w/dead fish and algae from pond. Doesn't seem to affect vegetable grow or production. Is afraid is taking nutrients away from produce. Please ID and suggest control.

This is a bryophyte, likely a liverwort species. Common in wet areas. I doubt it is affecting production much, and suggest trying to limit moisture if possible to the area as this is a requirement for their growth. Mulching would probably also reduce populations some.
