The Land Use and Agriculture Team provides local decision-makers and landowners with the knowledge, tools and skills to make wise choices about the use of their agricultural land resources.

LAND USE AND AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS IN WISCONSIN

To meet its mission, the team develops programs dealing with:

  • The development of agricultural land use policies.
  • How different agricultural activities can impact the environment.
  • Assessing how agriculture may contribute to rural communities and economies.
  • Effectively utilizing regional and town level data to aid in local decision making.

Making a difference

Success stories and impact reports

As Wisconsin’s population grows, suburbs and rural subdivisions are being developed in what had been an exclusively agricultural environment. At the same time, some livestock producers are considering expanding their operations. In an effort to head off conflicts, the Wisconsin legislature passed the Livestock Facility Siting Law.
