Internet mapping systems (IMS) are web-based services to display spatial information.  These include tools such as GoogleMaps and MapQuest, which provide interfaces to display common data themes such as road networks and images, and tools such as navigation and “post-its” for locations of interest.  For particular applications such as bioenergy facilities, a much more extensive array of data are needed, and a broader ranger of analytic capabilities will be useful.

For this IMS, we have assembled and integrated an extensive collection of spatial data which may have some relevance to siting, feasibility assessment, impact assessment, and other bioenergy facility questions.  These data are from generally available public sources except as noted, and are also available as downloads from this or other sites as noted on Tools & Data pages.

The most current version of the bioenergy mapping tool can be viewed by clicking here or on the image below. The mapping tool will be undergoing revisions and improvements throughout 2009. Note that the mapping tool relies upon data sets published by various state and federal agencies. UW-Extension, Focus on Energy or the Land Information and Computer Graphics facility cannot be held responsible for the accuracy of this data or for decisions made as a result of its use.
