Northern EDGE’s Profiles of Best Practices is one of three ways that this initiative builds community capacity for economic and workforce development.  These best practices serve to illustrate examples of opportunities that have been seized and have succeeded in 29 northern counties and other counties in the state of Wisconsin. They promise to act as an economic development resource that demonstrates "what's working" throughout northern Wisconsin, and also offer best practices that may be replicated in other areas throughout the region.

These Profiles of Best Practices highlight some of the effective approaches to economic development occurring in communities throughout the state.  These "best practices" are intended to become a tool for communities to learn and share their economic development success stories.   We hope that the profiles build educational resources for economic and workforce development while also highlighting the unique assets and opportunities within northern Wisconsin.

The profiles represented in Northern EDGE are but a sampling of the success that is happening in the northern portion of the state.   These stories emerge from diverse communities in northern Wisconsin that possess a range of resources as well as various levels of community capacity for economic and workforce development.   While some stories may appear modest in scale to others, Northern EDGE recognizes each profile as a demonstration of a particular community's achievement in building upon pre-existing capacity and resources, and in some cases, creating capacity and resources from scratch.   If you know of a success story you would like featured in Northern EDGE, please review the "Profile Guidelines" and the "Profile Worksheet/Form."
