Local GovernmentLocal Government

CNRED outreach and research efforts are supported by a number of campus and county based experts. This programming is focused on enhancing local economic health, business development, stable employment and quality of life.

These programs and services are reflected in centers of excellence, self-directed issue teams and a variety of statewide, regional and/or county initiatives.

Below are some of our statewide self-directed issue teams working on local government.

Local Government & Finance Team - The purpose of the Local Government and Finance Team includes improving local government education offered by state specialists and county educators; encouraging more county educators to become engaged in this education; and ensuring that communication exists among county educators, state specialists and the administration regarding local government education.

Political Effectiveness - Significant challenges face Cooperative Extension including budget cuts, with all their implications, and increased justification for funding of educational programming. The Political Effectiveness Team will extend the work of the newly forming Community Partner Groups toward building the political base of support necessary to offset these challenges.

Future Land Use Issues and Priorities - The purpose of the Future Land Use Issues and Priorities Team is to develop educational programs and resources for use in helping CNRED Wisconsin communities deal with growth and development issues that arise out of rapidly changing demographic and socioeconomic conditions.

Public Policy Education - The Public Policy Education Team recognizes that CNRED educators may be asked to program in any number of controversial issues. The purpose of this Team is to develop resources and other forms of support to help CNRED educators evaluate and define their potential roles, in controversial areas.
