Program Description:

Transformational Education: what is it ? what does it look like ? and why is it called Wisconsin Cooperative Extension's Hedgehog? This two-hour program will offer participants an introduction to the topic and examine the characteristics of Transformational Education. It also will feature a case study and county initiatives that exemplify Transformational Education. Maggie Bethel, Michigan State University, and Arlen Leholm, CES Dean and Director, will provide their insights and observations on TE, as well as the case study and examples. There will be numerous opportunities for interaction, both at the viewing sites and with the presenters, via question and answer segments.

This satellite event is a stepping stone to our fall conference, Trust and Transformation. It's meant to help you become fully engaged in a conversation about Transformational Education in your county.

Role of Site Facilitator (Department Head):

  • Inform office personnel of the date and time of the videoconference.
  • Coordinate the pre-satellite work (homework) in your office.

  • Submit pre-satellite work and evaluation following the videoconference.

Pre-Satellite Event: Each office team will be asked to identify one program underway and to analyze it using the Wisconsin Framework of Transformational Education.

Disabled Accomodations: In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, local facilitators may need to provide accommodations to some audience members. The program will be closed-captioned for the hearingimpaired, but sites planning to utilize the closed-captioning should verify well in advance that their television set is capable of decoding the captions. Other accommodations which participants might request include, providing program materials in different formats and site accessibility. If you have questions about these accommodations, please contact the UWEX-CE Distance Education Unit at 608-262-7376.
