Alas, the Quality Tested Hay Auction season had arrived.  So, it appeared, had winter as the snow fell and the wind howled.  But this did not stop the hearty hay probers and testers of the Fond du Lac and Dodge County Forage Councils.  No, these fools risked life and limb to make it to the auction barn and anticipate that first hay load of the season.  It didn't look good as the minutes passed, the snow piled up, and hay parking lot continued to sit empty.  But wait!  Through the snowflakes they were able to see the outline of not eight tiny reindeer, but a truck pulling a load of round bales.  Quickly, the hay probe was set into action.  The cause was not lost!  There would be no others to brave the elements on this day, but the hay auction season had begin thanks to the man with the grassy large round bales and no fear of Mother Nature.
