The price paid for agricultural land in Fond du Lac County once again spiked higher in 2005, according the Wisconsin Ag Statistics Service.  The average price paid for land without buildings that was designated to stay in agricultural use was $3025 per acre.  This was nearly a $700 per acre increase over 2004, which seems a bit curious since values were showing a trend of leveling off during 2002 to 2004.  Perhaps a reason for the spike was that one parcel sold for $6800 per acre, which undoubtedly raised the average price.  It’s questionable whether that parcel will stay in agricultural use for very long (unless what is being grown is on the shady side of the law).

For land with buildings and other improvements, the average price paid in 2005 was $3929 per acre.
