ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

There has a an increasing interest in growing corn in less than 30" rows the past several years. While the discussion of growing corn in narrower rows is not new, interest in this production practice seems to be wider based than in the past.

Innovations in equipment, improved genetics, and a wider array of herbicides are creating a renewed interest in narrow row corn production. Part of that interest is the goal of higher yields, but there is also a desire to use the same equipment for more than one crop. Among other benefits mentioned for narrow row corn production are better weed control and reduced moisture loss as a result of quicker crop canopy.

The Wisconsin Narrow Row Corn Conference is an opportunity for Corn Growers, Agronomists, and Crop Consultants to learn more about growing corn in narrow rows. The conference will review research work that has been completed the past three or four years in the Upper Midwest and a opportunity to learn first hand from farmers who have grown corn in narrow rows.
