Kip Cullers, a Show-Me state soybean grower, obliterated the previous world record soybean yield by harvesting 139.39 bushels per acre.  The field was entered in the Missouri Soybean Association yield contest and was conventionally tilled under irrigation.  The soil type was sandy loam.

As is often the case, there are some out of the ordinary practices that get employed on these record-setting contest fields.  The field was planted at 300,000 seeds per acre with a final stand of 245,000 plants per acre.  Plants averaged 120 pods. Both fungicide and insecticide were sprayed on the field during the growing season.
