This photo shows an example of how the A.W.W. Program has served as a model overseas. The Alabama Water Watch (AWW) Program was initiated in 1992 by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and the Auburn University Fisheries Deptartment. Today AWW is coordinated through Auburn University's Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, and the International Center for Aquaculture and Aquatic Environments of Auburn University.

AWW staff member, Brooke Smith, prepared a summary of the program that is available as a pdf file (171 KB) by clicking anywhere on this sentence.

You can also learn more about AWW's involvement overseas by reading on our related research and education pages a reprint of an article that originally appeared in the Volunteer Monitor newsletter (Volume 15, No. 1, Winter 2003). It's titled "Monitoring in Alabama and the Phillipines".

For more information about the AWW program, visit their website at: http://www.alabamawaterwatch.org/ Arrow symbol to indicate this link leaves this website.
