secretary chairAdministrative Support Staff

As the main support staff person and computer contact for the Ashland County Extension Office for the past twelve years, Annie Boike oversees the daily operation of the office that houses three agents as well as two nutrition educators.

As part of the UW-Extension support staff team, Annie supplies necessary clerical support to each agent and provides Extension-based information to clients, as directed by agents, via telephone contact, written correspondence, internet and in-office contact.

Annie’s responsibilities cover maintaining records for 4-H members and club/project leaders and organizing material and programs directly connected to 4-H events, Family Living programs and CNRED programs. She is also responsible for the layout of the 4-H family newsletter, The Clover Connection, and the Extension Office annual report.

Annie says her job flows in a different pattern everyday, and it never ceases to be interesting and challenging.

Sharon Huybrecht started part-time as Ashland County UW-Support staff in July of 2007.

Sharon’s position includes receptionist duties, such as answering and routing calls, and directing the public to the correct UW-Extension Agent. She also provides valuable clerical support for the staff.  As part of the UW-Extension staff, Sharon is kept busy handling the countless details that arise daily in such a busy office.

Cheri Bruch , support staff for the Ashland/Bayfield Counties Nutrition Education Program (A/B-NEP), provides valuable assistance to Coordinator Betty Tarabek and educators, Joy Schelble and Ann Christensen in the Ashland office and Donna Ganson in the Washburn office. Cheri’s position includes data entry on the website for programming statistics and credit card allocations in addition to preparing travel expense reports, ordering supplies and maintaining information on budget balances. Cheri also designs handouts and exhibits based on information provided by the coordinator/educators for use by the A/B-NEP staff throughout the two-county area.

Cheri has also taken on the task of creating a Senior newsletter entitled Nutrition Notions. Six editions are put together yearly. Nutrition Notions is distributed to senior citizens through the senior dining sites in Ashland and Bayfield Counties in addition to being delivered with home-bound meals in the two-county area. Cheri enjoys the creativity that creating a newsletter allows. In 2005, 2550 copies of the newsletter were distributed in Ashland and Bayfield Counties.

A new project was added to Cheri’s responsibilities in the fall of 2005. Cheri takes nutrition information provided by the educators and formats plus distributes it to school districts plus Head Start for inclusion in school newsletters or on school menu backs. This project allows parents of the students we work with in schools to get reliable nutrition information that relates to the activities their children have participated in during our visits to the classrooms. Currently 9 schools plus one Head Start Center are participating in this program.
