4-H Youth Council Meeting Info:

  • The Youth Council typically meets:

    Third Sunday of the month
    5:00 p.m. 
    Alma Courthouse~ 4th Floor
    407 South 2nd Street in Alma

  • The Youth Council is open to all youth in grades 7 and over. Currently there re usually 15-25 members in attendance. The average age group is 13-19.

The 4-H Youth Council participates in a variety of social and recreational activities including:

  • Bowling
  • Hosts the Ag-Olympics event at the Buffalo County Fair
  • Bonfires
  • Dodge ball and Kickball tournaments
  • Action City

Throughout the year, the 4-H Youth Council does several community projects such as:

  • Prepare and serve a meal to Ronald McDonald House guests in Rochester, MN
  • Gift baskets to foster care parents
  • Donations to local families in need
  • Caroling for canned goods

For educational emphasis, the 4-H Youth Council completes leadership surveys, receives hands-on training in action planning and is currently working to create a better Member Evaluation (ME) form.

The 4-H Youth Council meets in different parts of the county and the youth leaders select and plan all events. There is a special emphasis on leadership and service-learning.

Each year, the 4-H Youth Council members join in the fundraising activities that provide funds to pay for their community service projects. Listed below are the most recent fundraisers that have been held: 

  1. Annual car wash
  2. Assist at the annual Buffalo County Dairy Breakfast
  3. T-shirt sales
