ABOUT
WNEP IN BUFFALO COUNTY
Wisconsin
Nutrition Education Program (WNEP) is a federally funded grant
program. WNEP education is supported by the USDA Food Stamp Program,
UW-Extension and local partners. Our mission is to develop and
implement community-based education programs, within a university
research-based context.
Nutrition education is provided at the Food Pantry, WIC Clinics,
Schools, Head Start Programs, and Senior Citizen Mealsites throughout
Buffalo County. WNEP utilizes various tools such as learn while
you wait, single and multi-session classes and cooking demonstrations
to educate those participating.
WNEP also partners with various advisory groups such as FEMA
(Federal Emergency Management Agency), the Buffalo County Nutrition
Coalition, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Food
Pantry Coordinator and the County Board of Supervisors to keep
abreast of what the nutritional needs of the county are.
