The Burnett County Board of Supervisors welcomes youth in grades 10, 11 and 12 who are residents of Burnett County to apply to serve as youth representatives on the County Board. This initiative provides Burnett County youth an opportunity to play a valuable and active leadership role in the governance of the county while enhancing their interest in the operation of local government and civic participation.

Youth involvement on the County Board will require not only enthusiasm, but also a commitment of time and energy to this important role.  Youth representatives will be expected to attend County Board meetings.  

TERMS
Three youth will be selected to serve a term of September 2009 to August 2010.  Three alternates will be selected to serve a two-year term (first year as alternate, second year as main representative (term September 2010 to August 2011).

REPRESENTATION
One youth representative and one alternate from Webster, Siren and Grantsburg School Districts will be chosen to represent the youth in Burnett County.

APPLICATION PROCESS
1. An application form and three references are due by May 22, 2009 .
2. One reference is to be from your parent/guardian and two from individuals in your school and/or community. Reference forms need to be sent directly by the individuals providing the reference.
3. Selections will be made by June 12.
4. Training will be provided in August.
5. Youth representatives will start their terms at the September County Board meeting.
