Starting
or Expanding Your Business
There are many organizations that
can provide assistance or resources to someone wishing to start
a small business. The following resources are a good place to
start.
Going into Business
in Calumet County is an eight-page pre-business
start-up counseling primer developed by Calumet County UW Extension.
It helps you analyze your business skills and strengths, and helps
you with goal setting and business timeline.

Business
Assistance Center or 920-496-9010.
Located in Green Bay, BAC offers free counseling and assistance
to start-up and existing businesses through a partnership of service-providers.
The
E-Seed is a 12-week entrepreneurship training series
offered through a partnership among the City of Appleton, Fox
Valley Technical College, and the Small Business Development Center.
E-Seed assists start-up and early-stage entrepreneurs in developing
management and planning tools for their new business ventures.
There is a cost to the program, but financial assistance is available.
State of
Wisconsin Build Your Business is a website that
offers a multitude of information on business planning, regulations,
financing, permits, and many other subjects. Gives users the opportunity
to download many of the necessary forms and resources.

Financing
Your Business
Once you have developed
a sound business plan and have a general idea of you financing
needs, you are ready to look at financing your business. Each
business has its own unique financing requirements. You will probably
use a mix of financing resources, such as:
- Use your own money
- Borrow from relatives or friends
- Borrow from lenders, such as a local bank, Community Development
Authority, Small Business Administration (SBA), or regional
Revolving Loans Funds
- Calumet County offers a low-interest revolving loan fund to
businesses that are located within the county. For information,
click on the Revolving Loan Fund Brochure link included below.

- In addition to the county's revolving loan fund, the City
of Brillion offers low-interest business loans to Brillion
businesses.
- A low-interest loan program is also operated by the City of
New Holstein for businesses in that city. For information, call
920-898-5766.
- Calumet County participates in the Northeast
Wisconsin Regional Economic Partnership, which offers tax
credits for high tech business development.
