What is 4-H?
4-H is a non-profit youth organization for youth in grades K-13.
Young people are members of clubs, which are lead by the youth
and advised by adult leaders. Clubs usually meet monthly to discuss
community service projects, fundraising, club activities and countywide
4-H events (examples, speaking & demonstration concrawfords,
music & drama festivals, project discovery days, ski trip,
county fair, camp, and softball). At the beginning of the 4-H
year, members pick out projects that they are interested in learning
more about. 4-H projects are learning experiences for members;
there are over 60 to choose from in the areas of Animal Sciences,
Arts & Communications, Family, Home & Health, Mechanical
Sciences, Natural Sciences & Environmental Education, and
Plant & Soil Sciences. Along with learning more about project
areas members have opportunities to development life skills such
as decision making, leadership, communication, planning and organizing,
and developing self. 4-H is an organization for the whole family.
