MATT HANSON - Agriculture Crops and Soils AgentPicture of Matt Hanson, Crops and Soils Agent

Matt Hanson was born and raised in St. Croix County, located in Western Wisconsin. He has been involved with agriculture throughout his life. He received his Bachelors Degree from UW-River Falls in Agronomy, and a Masters Degree from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville with an emphasis in Soil Fertility / Chemistry. After completing his Masters in 1994, he returned to Wisconsin to farm, but worked as an Instructor at UW-River Falls teaching courses including soils, geology and natural resources. In 1997, his career goal to work with UW-Extension as a Crops and Soils agent became a reality. Working as a Crops and Soils Agent with UW-Extension has combined his love for both agriculture and teaching. He served as the Crops and Soils Agent in Jefferson County for eight years before transferring to Dodge County in 2004.  He and his wife, Amy, have two children and live near Johnson Creek.

Matt is committed to building upon the applied agricultural research of the University and tailoring educational programs that address local needs and issues.

His focus areas include:

  • Crop Production and Management
