4-H ACTIVITIES

You will enjoy taking part in lots of fun and educational activities within your club but please be aware that there are many events help on the county level that you will want to consider. These include:

  • 4-H Discovery Day - November
  • Music Festival - November or December
  • Older Youth Council Winter Camp - Late December
  • Foods Revue - January
  • Speaking Contest - January
  • Demonstration Contest - January
  • Drama Festival and Arts & Crafts Show - Early March
  • 4-H Basketball - weekends, winter and spring
  • Clothing Revue - June
  • Summer Camp (for 2nd-5th and 6th-8th graders)
  • County Fair - July

Also some of the project areas plan a number of important events (these are just a few of the activities they offer):

  • Dairy - Judging contest, dairy bowl, poster contest
  • Dog - Dog obedience classes, dog agility, Dogless Dog Project
  • Horse - Series of summer training sessions, Holiday Party, Fun Shows, Horseless Horse Project
  • Livestock - Judging contest, Fitting & Showing Clinic, poster contest, annual banquet.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is always fun! A residential 4-H camp is held each summer at Beaver Creek Reserve north of Fall Creek. The four day, three night camp provides lots of fun, educational activities which help 4-H members make new friends, gain self confidence and independence, learn about nature, gain teamwork and cooperation skills, and learn about healthy leisure activities.

Cabin camp is open to youth in grades 2-5 (school year prior to camp).

Advanced camp is open to youth in grades 6-8 (school year prior to camp).

The Fair is Fun!Eau Claire County Fair

The annual Eau Claire County Fair is a youth and family focused event. Emphasis is placed on youth education and recognition and family involvement. The county fair is non-commercial and has no midway or carnival. Youth and adults may exhibit at the County Fair. In addition to a wide variety of animal shows and hundreds of non-animal exhibits, the fair features the following special events:

  • Kick-off Olympics: Wednesday evening
  • Kids Days tent activities (games, face painting, make n' take crafts, petting zoo, educational exhibits): Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm.
  • Style Revue and Talent Show: Friday evening
  • Livestock Project Auction: Saturday evening
  • Pie Baking Contest: Sunday morning
  • Small Animal Fun Show: Sunday morning
  • Charcoal Chicken Dinner: Sunday, 11 am to 2 pm
  • Polka Band: Sunday late morning
  • Antique Appraisal: Sunday afternoon
  • Award Ceremony: Sunday afternoon
  • After the Fair Dance: Sunday, 8 to 11 pm
