Grant County 4-H Program

4-H Provides Essential Elements for Positive Youth Development

Providing Research Base Information on Youth Issues

  • The Southwest Wisconsin Youth Survey (SWYS)
Find out what Grant County youth are saying about their concerns, attitudes, perceptions and behaviors. Results of the 2005 survey are being added to the website regularly.
  • UWEX Youth Development works with community coalitions to provide research base information. These coalitions include:
    • The Roundtable of Grant County which is a think-tank that develops and supports alternatives to underage drinking and promotes positive youth development.
    • The Grant County Drug-Free Coalition who's mission is to improve the quality of life among Grant County youth, and over time, adults by collaboratively reducing and controlling drug use, and by promoting healthy, safe and drug-free lifestyles.
    • Grant County Safe Communities who's mission is dedicated to keeping Grant County safe through prevention education and citizen involvement.
    • Grant County Tobacco-Free Coalition who's mission is to improve the quality of life for Grant County Citizens through the reduction/prevention of tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.

Relating to Others in a Changing Society

  • Friends Helping Friends (Training older youth to teach their younger peers about friendship, communication, dating and other issues).
