SWYS - 1997 Acknowledgements

Many people contributed assistance and support to the Grant County Teen Assessment Project (SWYS) report.  They realized the need and value of local data on risk behaviors affecting youth.

Special thanks to teachers who cooperated in the administration of the survey, the parents who allowed their children to participate and the 2,837 students who gave their thoughtful responses.

The school SWYS coordinators need to be recognized for the hours spent evaluating the survey, gathering input from students, teachers, administrators, and parents.  Their efforts also included coordinating the administration of SWYS in the school.  The school SWYS coordinators are:

  • Wendy Garrety - Cassville
  • Angela Belken - Iowa-Grant
  • Steve Curley, Tom Hughey, Ron Meissner and Gary  Swanstrom - Lancaster
  • Mary Kay Logemann - Platteville
  • Gail Steiner and Steve Lozeau - Potosi
  • Steve Elvidge, & Paul Velsor - Southwestern
  • Caron Townsend & Margo King - West Grant

Other Acknowledgments include:

  • School Administration and School Boards of Cassville, Iowa-Grant, Lancaster, Platteville, Potosi, River Ridge and Southwestern, who approved the use of the SWYS survey.
  • Principals, teachers and staff of participating schools who cooperated in the administration of the survey.
  • The Grant County Board of Supervisors' Agriculture and Extension Education Committee for supporting this project.
  • Shelly Ruetten, CESA 3 and Rick Place, Grant County DARE Officer, for input on the questionnaire.
  • Marina Memmo, Doctoral Student, Department of Educational Psychology, & Kathleen Rogers - Doctoral student, Department of Child and Family Studies, UW-Madison, who provided on-going assistance and technical support to the project.
