SWYS
2005 - Survey Development
A series of meetings
were held beginning the fall of 2004 to develop the final 160
questions for the survey.
This process allowed local schools
and communities to have input into the questions they most would
like to ask of local teens and insure the questions on the survey
would be consistent with community norms.
When possible, questions
for the survey were be drawn from a researched bank of questions
that have proved reliable in obtaining the information desired.
In addition, it was desirable to carry over some questions
from previous surveys to measure trends over a period of surveys.
Finally, funding sources dictated that certain questions
be asked.
We hope that the process
of involving participating schools in the survey helps reduce
local concerns about the questions asked.
