Life Skills Stress Management Fighting Invisible Tigers; A Stress Management Guide for Teens Connie C. Schitz, Ph.D with Earl Hipp Program can be adapted so that each lesson fits into a class period, lessons can be done consecutively or singly to accommodate your schedule. Stress is affecting youth, they can fell overwhelmed, frustrated, inadequate, or tired from the challenges in their lives. Using the book, Fighting Invisible Tigers and numerous other activities and techniques, the lessons of Recognizing and Differentiating Stress in  Life in the Jungle and  Getting to Know the Beast. In addition, lessons in life skills,  Communication, Trusting the Future,  and  Scripting and Planning for the Future and for Change can be facilitated. Objectives: Students will be able to differentiate between different types of stressful situations. Students will identify cultural norms surrounding the management of stress. Students will distinguish between coping and stress management, and between positive and negative coping strategies. Students will learn what it means to slow time down and increase their awareness of the present. Diversity and Culture The Dusty Backpack 1 or 2 Class Periods Through two suitcase scenarios I will explain my experience in the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa. Pictures, video, artifacts from Ghana will accompany my visit. Note, March is Peace Corps Month. Objectives: Students will list two cultural characteristics of your country of service. Students will identify the skills and attitudes need for successful cross-cultural experiences.
