OPPORTUNITIES FOR 4-H YOUTH AND VOLUNTEERS
Trips and Awards for Older Youth
Older youth are eligible for special award trips based on their
work in their 4-H projects or activities on the club and county
level. These trips include State 4-H Conference in Madison
in June; Citizenship Washington Focus to Washington, D.C.; and
the National 4-H Conference. Many of these trips require
the completion of a special application form detailing the member's
work and activities in the 4-H program. Some trips may
also require an interview conducted by the Iowa County 4-H Leaders
Council members. Both applications are due November 15th.

Be a Camp Counselor
Youth in grades 9-12 may apply to be a camp counselor at Upham Woods July 5-7 when Iowa County youth camp with youth from Green and Lafayette County. Applications are due February 1.
Older youth are also eligible to apply for 4-H Ambassador positions.
The Ambassadors work throughout the year to promote the 4-H programs,
assist at 4-H activities and events, and meet for
fun activities. The 4-H Ambassador
applications are available at the Extension Office and are
due June 30th.
The Iowa County 4-H Leaders Association
sponsors a special scholarship
program available by application to youth graduating from the
4-H program. Youth are eligible for 4-H membership one year after
graduation from high school.
Special Recognition and Awards
All youth are eligible for special project awards based on their
work in their project areas. Special awards are also given
to youth who have shown a lot of growth or leadership in those
project areas.
County-wide Events
Iowa County 4-H sponsors many county-wide events including a
summer softball program, a "Day in the Arts" to promote creative
arts such as music, speaking and demonstrations, dairy and livestock
judging, county and state fair, summer camp, and much more.
