Heating Your Home with Wood
During the chill of a Wisconsin winter, there are few things more satisfying than a warm fire. Heating your home with wood can be less expensive than other sources of home heating energy, and firewood is a renewable resource. Prices of heating fuels vary considerably, but non-renewable fossil fuels and electricity are commonly 2 to more than 10 times more expensive than firewood for the same amount of heat. Concerned About High Energy Costs This Winter? — Financial Assistance Available
The Home Energy Plus Program may be able to help. Energy Services for Marathon County offers grants for low income individuals and families. The grants are determined by energy costs, household size, income, property type, etc. Some households may qualify for a free home weatherization. Wisconsin Farm Technology Days
Wisconsin's largest outdoor agriculture show will be hosted by Marathon County in 2011. At a media conference held on November 11th, Keith Langenhahn, FTD Executive Committee Chairman introduced Ken and Karen Seehafer of Seehafer Acres, Inc., as the host farm of the 2011 event. H1N1 Flu Outbreak - Extension Disaster Education Network
Human cases of an H1N1 Influenza A have now been identified in all 50 states and in many countries around the world. This is a novel influenza A virus that has not been identified in people before, and human-to-human transmission of the virus appears to be ongoing. 2008 Plat Book & Marathon County Land Atlas
Marathon County Land Atlas & Plat Books are available at the UW-Extension Office and several other county locations. Platbooks are a convenient reference for local governments, businesses, and the general public. Proceeds go to Marathon County 4-H Leaders Federation to help fund various 4-H programs. 4-H Community Clubs
4-H provides real-life experiences for youth through practical, learn-by-doing educational programs. It is for all youth in grades K-13 (one year out of high school).
