Wisconsin Farm Technology Days

Wisconsin's largest outdoor agriculture show will be hosted by Marathon County in 2011. The announcement came April 9, 2008 at the WFTD Annual Meeting in Madison. Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event

Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event — June 7

Flushing medications down the drain or placing them in the trash can contaminate ground and surface waters. Theft and misuse of medications is on the rise. Marathon County is offering you an opportunity to bring in unused pharmaceuticals for proper disposal. The goal is to protect you and the environment by offering safe disposal options. Bring medications in their original containers. You may black out personal information. Law enforcement will be on site for safety. One day only, Saturday, June 7, 2008, 10 am - 2 pm TWO LOCATIONS - Hazardous Waste Facility, 301 Alderson Street in Schofiel and at Marathon City Municipal Hall, 311 Walnut St, Marathon. Digital TV

The Switch to Digital Television is Coming

Are you ready? Television broadcasting is moving from an old standard – known as “analog” – to a new standard called Digital TV. After February 17, 2009, all television broadcasts will be exclusively digital, most including Wisconsin Public Television have already began to offer digital programming. Viewers who have cable or satellite shouldn't have to upgrade. Digital TV provides crystal clear pictures and sound and more programming choices. Mark and Dawn Mroczenski

Marathon County Farmers Honored in National “Small Farm” Award Competition

Mark and Dawn Mroczenski operate a small dairy grazing operation in the heart of central Wisconsin. Their farm was recently nominated from Wisconsin and placed third in the national Lloyd Wright Small Farmer of the Year Award. The Mroczenskis were nominated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Wisconsin. NEW 2008 Plat Book & Marathon County Land Atlas Available

Marathon County Land Atlas & Plat Books are available at the UW-Extension Office and several other county locations. Platbooks are a convenient reference for local governments, businesses, and the general public. Proceeds go to Marathon County 4-H Leaders Federation to help fund various 4-H programs. 4-H Community Clubs

4-H provides real-life experiences for youth through practical, learn-by-doing educational programs. It is for all youth in grades K-13 (one year out of high school).
