IEIDM logo...MARSHFIELD AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH STATION & IEIDM

Marshfield Agricultural Research Station
The Marshfield Agricultural Research Station was established in 1912 on 80 acres of land granted to the University of Wisconsin by Wood County and the City of Marshfield. The mission of the UW-Madison Marshfield Agricultural Research Station is to facilitate and conduct research and outreach activities that support agricultural development and natural resource conservation on the difficult-to-manage soils of north-central and northern Wisconsin.

Research at the station has directly benefited north-central Wisconsin farms and the state and national dairy industries. With new dairy heifer facilities being constructed the Marshfield Station is on the way to becoming the premier research facility for dairy heifers in the country. The station also hosts the State Soils and Forage Analysis Laboratory, where soils, manure, feed, and forage are analyzed as a service to the state's farmers. Institute for Environmentally Integrated Dairy Management (IEIDM)
The newly formed collaborative Institute capitalizes on the combined expertise of the established partners listed above. By working together, each partner gains enhanced research capacity through the sharing of facilities and knowledge -- both existing and new.

The Institute is a partnership between USDA Agricultural Research Service (U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center), USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), University of Wisconsin College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (UW-CALS), and National Farm Medicine Center/Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation.
