AgLink is a new bi-monthly newsletter for Marathon County agriculture. It includes educational articles, local issues, upcoming events and seminars, legislative issues with local impact, and more. Published jointly by the Partnership for Progressive Agriculture (PPA) and the UW-Extension, contact Melissa Klein at the PPA regarding ad space for commercial sponsors. Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems (CIAS)
CIAS offers Grass Clippings newsletters. This is a quarterly newsletter linking Wisconsin graziers with University of Wisconsin researchers, extension, and US Dairy Forage Research Center personnel working in grazing and pasture management. Dairy Employee Survey
This survey of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan County large dairies was conducted in summer, 2007. Important haracteristics of dairy employment and the experiences of workers in the industry were documented. The study questions related to work and family life, interaction in the community, language skills, and career advancement. Key findings and statistics are all documented in the Dairy Employee Survey Report:

Dairy Partner / El Compañero (Employee Newsletter)
Fond du Lac County UW-Extension publishes bi-monthly newsletter intended for dairy farm employees. Published in both english and spanish. FSA Operator's & Landowner's Forms
Beginning 1 October 2006, the county FSA offices will no longer be allowed to provide some forms to producers due to a change in policy from Washington. Consequently, some county FSA offices asked their county Extension offices if they would hand out two forms for farm operators to show that they own 100% of the crops from the land.

Marathon County Agriculture: Value & Economic impact

Agriculture is an important economic force in Marathon County. It includes hundreds of family-owned farms, related businesses and industries that provide equipment, services and other products farmers need to process, market and deliver food and fiber to consumers.The production, sales and processing of Marathon County’s farm products generates employment, economic activity, income and tax revenue. This brochure was published in November 2004 by UWEX, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.

Remodeled Parlors

Developing a remodeled parlor can be an exciting process. It can also become complicated and sometimes overwhelming, but it can be done by following the process step by step. Determining your likes and dislikes is the most important part of the process and will affect whether the resulting facility is something you love, or tolerate, or hate. The first step is to develop a list of business and personal goals. Use this list as a guide and follow it during the design process. When decisions need to be made, use this list to help decide if a particular decision accomplishes the goals listed.

This resource was assembled by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), Division of Agribusiness as a tool to help small businesses develop and grow their value-added business using money, information, and technical assistance from outside their organization. Survey Discloses Public Opinion About Large Farms

During the spring of 2002, the Marathon County UW-Extension office developed a survey of opinions concerning large-scale dairy/livestock operations. The survey was taken into consideration by the Environmental Resources Committee (ERC) of Marathon County. Check here for the complete report published in September 2002.
